Terms and Conditions

These terms govern your use of this website (annamariamatziorinis.ca), including all content, subscriptions, tools, and materials made available through it. By using this site or subscribing to any offering, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. About This Site

This website is operated by Dr. Anna Maria Matziorinis, a computational social neuroscientist based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. It serves as a personal research, writing, and educational platform. It is not operated by or on behalf of any organization, though some of the work presented here is also used under license by the Hidden Information Labs Institute (HILIO), a separate entity.

2. Educational Nature of Content

All content on this site, including SEAM Field Notes, blog posts, seminars, frameworks, tools, and visual materials, is educational, informational, and exploratory.

Nothing on this site constitutes:

  • Medical, psychiatric, or psychological treatment
  • Psychotherapy, counseling, or clinical intervention
  • Financial, legal, or professional advice of any kind

The content discusses topics including attachment, nervous system regulation, relational dynamics, coercive control, and brain function. These discussions are grounded in published research and applied through the SEAM framework for educational purposes. They are not a substitute for professional support.

If you are experiencing significant distress, are in a situation involving coercive control, or need clinical support, please reach out to a qualified licensed professional or a local crisis service.

No professional relationship (therapeutic, clinical, advisory, or otherwise) is created through the use of this site, the reading of any content, or participation in any offering.

3. Intellectual Property

3.1 SEAM Framework

The Social Echoes Awareness Method (SEAM) is a proprietary framework developed by Dr. Anna Maria Matziorinis. All rights to SEAM, including its concepts, terminology, diagnostic frameworks, visual representations, and derivative tools, are retained by its creator.

SEAM is used under a separate exclusive license by the Hidden Information Labs Institute for its own programs and offerings. That license does not extend to subscribers or readers of this site.

3.2 Content

All content on this site, including written articles, field notes, visual diagrams, SVG figures, educational materials, and any downloadable resources, is the intellectual property of Dr. Anna Maria Matziorinis.

Subscribers and visitors are granted a limited, personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to read and use content for their own learning. You may not:

  • Reproduce, redistribute, or republish any content
  • Use content for commercial purposes, including coaching, consulting, or teaching
  • Present SEAM concepts, frameworks, or terminology as your own work
  • Create derivative works based on SEAM without written permission
  • Share subscriber-only content with non-subscribers

Brief quotation with proper attribution for the purpose of commentary or review is permitted under standard fair use / fair dealing principles.

4. Subscriptions

4.1 SEAM Field Notes

SEAM Field Notes is a paid subscription service. Subscriptions are billed monthly at the listed price through Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to recurring monthly charges until you cancel.

4.2 What You Get

A subscription provides access to all current and future Field Notes for the duration of your active subscription. New notes are delivered to your email inbox as they are published. You also have access to the subscriber portal to read the full archive.

4.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access until that period ends. No partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a billing period.

4.4 Access

Subscriber access is personal and non-transferable. Sharing login credentials, access links, or subscriber-only content with others is not permitted. Access may be revoked if these terms are violated.

5. Privacy and Data Practices

5.1 What Is Collected

This site collects as little personal data as possible. Here is what is processed and where:

  • Email address: Collected by Stripe when you subscribe and by Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) for email delivery. Used solely for billing and sending Field Notes to your inbox.
  • Payment information: Processed entirely by Stripe. No payment card data is stored on or handled by this site. Stripe is PCI DSS compliant.
  • Subscriber portal: When you log in to the portal, your email is checked against Stripe to verify your subscription. If active, an encrypted session token is generated and stored only in your browser (sessionStorage, cleared when you close the tab). No server-side session records are kept. No cookies are used.

5.2 What Is Not Collected

This site does not use analytics, tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking tools. No behavioral data, browsing history, or usage patterns are collected or stored by the site operator.

5.3 Third-Party Services

  • Stripe, Inc. (United States) processes payments and manages subscription billing. Stripe acts as an independent data controller for payment data and is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • Brevo (Sendinblue) (France) handles email delivery for Field Notes. Your email address is stored by Brevo for the purpose of sending subscribed content. You may unsubscribe at any time through any email.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) provides hosting and content delivery. Cloudflare may process technical metadata (IP addresses, request headers) at the network level as part of standard service delivery. This data may be processed on internationally distributed infrastructure. The site operator does not independently access or store this data.

5.4 Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data held about you at any time. In practice, the data held is limited to your email address (in Stripe and Brevo). To exercise any rights, or if you have questions, contact: [email protected].

Your rights under applicable privacy legislation, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), are respected. If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local data protection authority.

6. Limitation of Liability

All content is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dr. Anna Maria Matziorinis shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of this site, its content, or any subscription offering.

You are solely responsible for your own decisions, actions, and outcomes. You are responsible for how you interpret and apply any information encountered on this site.

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable therein. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in British Columbia, Canada.

8. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated at any time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
